Your Nepal ePassport app says “Passport has been issued”. If it still says “Ready for Shipment”, your passport has not left Kathmandu yet, so wait for the update.
Canberra is too far
The Embassy hands over passports on weekday mornings. If you live interstate or cannot take time off work, we go for you.

Prefer to do it yourself?
The Embassy also returns passports by post if you send your old passport with a prepaid, tracked return envelope. It says that takes around two weeks. We collect in person instead.

The Embassy only hands a passport to someone else when the holder has authorised it by email and their original old passport is shown. These steps cover both.

Send the booking form. We email you the authority letter and service agreement to sign, and how to pay.
Email the Embassy
From your own email address, write to consular.canberra@mofa.gov.np naming our collector. We send you the exact wording to copy.
Send us your old passport
The Embassy needs your original old passport (or a child’s birth certificate) before it releases the new one. Post it to us by tracked Express Post.
We collect
We present your old passport and signed authority at the Embassy in O’Malley, Canberra, and collect your new passport.
Back to you, tracked
Both passports come back by Express Post with tracking and a signature on delivery. We never copy or photograph them.
